Jonathan Anderson, Construction (after Thoreau), 2011, wood, acrylic on unstretched canvas, framed oil on panel, 84 × 60 × 90 in.
This is a sculptural half-scale reconstruction, according to modern framing code, of Henry David Thoreau’s cabin at Walden Pond. The floor of the cabin is an unstretched canvas painted an earthy green. On the back wall (opposite the door) is a framed oil painting depicting the view looking away from the site where Thoreau’s cabin once stood.
